Genetic Diseases in the Arabic Society – Conference 2015

The GS, in collaboration with the organization of Genatuna organized a conference on May 27th in Nazareth.This conference was targeted at the healthcare workers in the field.

The Arab population are characterized by high level of inbreeding that may cause genetic disorders to be prevalent and account for many physical and mental handicap. Therefore, this conference elaborated on the several diseases that are most common in the Arab population in general and the different localities in specific.

The topics were divided into: Prenatal screenings tests and diagnosis, metabolic diseases, and genetic factors on other diseases( such as different types of cancers).

There was a stress on Premarital advice about consanguinity at the primary healthcare level and utilizing the genetic services for the different screenings available.
