The Relation between NGOs/Civic Society and the State during the COVID-19 Pandemic

On the 23rd of June, 2021, the Galilee Society participated in a round table organized by the “Minerva Center for the Rule of Law under Extreme Conditions” and the “Haifa Center for German and European Studies” of the University of Haifa on the issue of the relationship of civic society and the state during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Director General of the Galilee Society, Mr. Ahmad Sheikh Muhammad was one of the main speakers and he spoke about the work system of the emergency room set up by the Galilee Society. In his speech, he focused on the challenges faced by the Arab community at the beginning of the pandemic and the ways in which the emergency room worked to confront these challenges and manage the crisis in an efficient manner.

Representatives from several foundations also participated in the meeting, who in turn shared their experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic and discussed the importance of building local capacities and resilience towards managing future crises, which was a primary goal in establishing an emergency room in the Galilee Society in the first place.
