and a Communities of Practice Meeting (CoP)
December 16, 2021
The Institute for Applied Research at the Galilee Society (IAR-GS) is pleased to announce that it, along with AgRobics from Israel and Greener than Green (GtG) from Greece, and jointly with Mekorot Ltd., will hold a two-day event on December 15-16, 2021, in Nazareth and/or Shefa-Amr, Israel.
The first day, Wednesday, December 15, 2021, will feature an international conference on Water and Energy aspects within the context of the circular economy approach. The conference will be dedicated to the memory of the late Dr. Miriam Waldman, in honor of her support of the Institute of Applied Research, and the Galilee Society.
On the second day, Thursday, December 16, 2021, a Communities of Practice (CoP) meeting, with international dimensions, will be held within the ULTIMATE Project framework, a Horizon 2020 project. ULTIMATE aims to create economic value and increase sustainability by valorizing resources within the water cycle. The acronym ULTIMATE stands for indUstry water-utiLiTy symbIosis for a sMarter wATer sociEty (https://ultimatewater.eu/the-project/).
The conference and the workshop will share a focus on water, energy, the environment, and wastewater as a reusable resource that is a carrier of energy and materials to be reused within a dynamic socio-economic and business-oriented industrial ecosystem.
The conference brings together leading academic scientists, researchers and research scholars to exchange and share their experiences and research results, most recent innovations, trends, and concerns on aspects of Water, Energy and the Environment. Similarly, the CoP workshop brings together stakeholders, end users, technology providers, water and wastewater utilities, regulators, local and regional authorities, as well as researchers and engineers, in addition to representatives from the agriculture, energy, water and other industries, who share interest in the agro-industry wastewater treatment (mainly olive mill, winery and dairy wastewater).
The main goal of this first CoP workshop is to present the IAR-GS/AgRobics/GtG/Mekorot ideas and to exchange knowledge, as well as to discuss, work together, and outline the steps towards the successful design and implementation of water-related technologies and innovations.
It is expected that the two-day event will be a “hybrid” event combining a frontal (in person) meeting with a digital option for people who will not be able to attend (i.e. as a result of the COVID-19 restrictions).
Opening remarks will include a word by Mr. Eyal Waldman, on behalf of the Waldman family, and words by representatives of the Institute for Applied Research, the Galilee Society, the University of Haifa, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and others.
